Course Description

This course will cover the origins of the DoW, the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the individual Armed Services, the budgeting process, decision making at various levels and daily life in the largest non-high rise office building in the world. Case studies will be presented to highlight the decision making process of subjects like the invasion of Afghanistan, the two invasions of Iraq and the defeat of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. Discussions will also focus on DoD responses to recent world events such as Ukraine, the Gaza Strip and Chinese influence in the South Pacific.
