Course Description

In our screen-dominated world, the physical act of writing by hand has become increasingly rare. Through a blend of historical context and hands-on practice of the elegant art of calligraphy, participants will discover the rich tradition of written communication. We'll examine the distinction between everyday cursive writing and calligraphy as an art form, while addressing the cognitive and creative benefits of pen-to-paper writing in our technology-driven era. Students will receive instruction in Chancery Cursive (Italic) calligraphy, mastering both uppercase and lowercase letterforms using traditional broad-edged pens. All materials and tools will be provided. No prior experience necessary. Explore this artistic medium, reconnect with the meditative practice of manual writing, and unlock the artist within. The extra $30 gets you a Pilot 3.8 mm Calligraphy pen, instruction manual, practice paper, and other stationery items
