Course Description

The class will focus on the basics of Catholicism, with emphasis on the challenges facing it in the modern era. We will touch on Marian beliefs, how the eucharist is seen, the Roman Catholic involvement in ecumenism in today's world, and an explanation of the mass, among other topics.
Students with a desire to learn, question, and discuss are encouraged to participate. This will be an explanation of the Catholic tradition, which is sometimes confusing, and will hope to clarify any misinterpretations. As the largest and oldest expression of Christianity, the Catholic church is involved in many facets of society. We will also study its origin and development, but keep the main focus on contemporary issues.
